經云。時大梵王見成聖果。默然而住心懷憂惱。眾生長夜沈沒生死。今當往請轉大法輪。即來佛所白言世尊。往昔為眾生故久住生死。廣修德本今成佛道。云何默然。欲界六天亦同勸請。如是者三。至滿七日。默然受已各還所止。

The sūtra says: At that time, the Great Brahmā King saw that he had attained the holy fruit yet remained silent, and his heart was troubled: 'Sentient beings have long been submerged in the cycle of birth and death; I must now go and request him to turn the great wheel of the Dharma.' He then went to the Buddha's place and said, 'World-Honoured One, in the past, for the sake of sentient beings, you dwelled long in birth and death, extensively cultivating the roots of virtue; now having attained the Buddha-path, why do you remain silent?' The six heavens of the desire realm likewise joined in urging and requesting him. This was repeated three times, until seven days were completed; having silently accepted, each returned to their dwelling.
