佛度三仙已。念言王舍本願。便詣頻婆娑羅王所。佛在竹林中。普曜云王聞佛至大悅。導從八萬四千。來至佛所咸疑師弟。乃令迦葉現通除疑。說偈告眾為王說法。得法眼淨。八萬那由他人。九十六那由他天。同得法眼。王以竹園施佛。諸王見佛洴沙為初。僧伽藍者竹園為初。

Having converted the three rṣis, the Buddha recalled his original vow at Rājagṛha, and went to King Bimbisāra's place. The Buddha was in the Bamboo Grove. The Puyao jing says that when the king heard the Buddha had arrived, he was overjoyed, and with an escort of eighty-four thousand came to the Buddha's place. All doubted who was master and who was disciple; the Buddha therefore ordered Kāśyapa to display supernatural powers to remove their doubts, and spoke verses to the assembly, preaching the Dharma for the king, who attained the purity of the Dharma-eye. Eighty thousand nayutas of people and ninety-six nayutas of devas simultaneously attained the Dharma-eye. The king donated the Bamboo Grove to the Buddha; among kings who met the Buddha, Bimbisāra was the first, and among saṅghārāmas, the Bamboo Grove was the first.
