中本起云。本施外道。國王追悔欲以奉佛。大鬼將軍勅閱叉撾打。外道怖而捨去。後請佛受之。
The Zhong benqi [jing] says: Originally it had been given to non-Buddhists. The king regretted this and wished to offer it to the Buddha. The Great Yakṣa General ordered the yakṣas to strike them with clubs; the non-Buddhists fled in terror, and later the Buddha was invited to accept it.
