普曜經云。菩薩住兜率天有六十六億諸天。共議言今菩薩將降當生何國。父母真正宗族和穆。威德雄猛志性弘雅。各言諸國皆有。便問菩薩何國降神。菩薩答言。其國種姓有六十種德。

The Lalitavistara Sūtra states: When the Bodhisattva dwelt in Tuṣita Heaven, there were sixty-six hundred million gods. They discussed together, saying, “Now that the Bodhisattva is about to descend, in which country should he be born? His parents must be upright and true, his clan harmonious, and his majestic virtue powerful, with an aspiration and nature vast and refined.” Each said that their various countries had these qualities, and then asked the Bodhisattva in which country he would descend his spirit. The Bodhisattva replied, “The lineage and clan of that country must possess sixty kinds of virtues.
