於是慕其德者。斷惡以立身。欽其風者。潔己而修善。故毀形以成其志。故棄鬚髮美容。變俗以會其道。故捨君臣華服雖形闕奉親。而內懷其孝。禮乖事主。而心戢其恩。澤被怨親以成大順。福霑幽顯豈拘小違。上智之人依佛語故為益。下凡之類虧聖教故為損。然懲惡則濫者自新。進善則通人感化。伏惟。

'Thereupon, those who admire his virtue cut off evil to establish their person; those who revere his influence purify themselves to cultivate good. Therefore, they disfigure their appearance to fulfill their aspiration; hence they abandon the hair, beard, and handsome countenance. They change their mundane habits to accord with his Dao; hence they surrender the splendid robes of lords and ministers. Although in form they fall short in serving parents, inwardly they harbor their filial piety; although in etiquette they diverge from serving the sovereign, in their hearts they store gratitude. Extending grace to foes and relatives alike, they achieve the great compliance; showering blessings upon the unseen and visible realms, how could they be restricted by minor infractions? When people of superior wisdom rely on the Buddha's words, it brings benefit; when those of the inferior and ordinary sort undermine the sage's teaching, it causes loss. But when evil is punished, the disorderly will renew themselves; when good is promoted, men of understanding will be transformed. Prostrating, I consider:
