陛下。何者詔未出前。佛大道小。詔出已後。道大佛小。大小優劣此之謂歟。伏惟。

Your Majesty. Why is this? Before the edict was issued, the Buddha was great and the Dao was small; after the edict was issued, the Dao was great and the Buddha was small. Great and small, superior and inferior—is this not what is meant? I humbly reflect that
