五百羅漢說是偈已還復本座。爾時迦葉問諸比丘。阿難所言不錯謬耶。皆曰。不異世尊所說。於是迦葉命優波離。集毘尼藏。迦葉自集阿毘曇藏。集法藏已。摩訶迦葉即說偈言。

After the five hundred arhats had spoken these verses, they returned to their original seats. At that time Kāśyapa asked the monks: "Is what Ānanda spoke not erroneous?" They all said: "It is no different from what the World-Honored One taught." Thereupon Kāśyapa ordered Upāli to compile the Vinaya Pitaka. Kāśyapa himself compiled the Abhidharma Pitaka. Having compiled the Dharma-treasury, Mahākāśyapa spoke verses, saying:
