There were also the śramaṇas Zhi Yao, Kang Ju, Kang Mengxiang, and others, all of whom, between the reigns of Emperors Ling and Xian of the Han, enjoyed a reputation for wisdom and learning that spread through the capital Luoyang. Yao translated the Chengju dingyi jing, the Xiao benqi, and other works; Ju translated the Wen diyushi jing; all were straightforward in phrasing and accurate in principle, without added rhetorical polish. Mengxiang translated the Zhong benqi and the Xiuxing benqi. Prior to this, the śramaṇa Tanguo had obtained the Sanskrit manuscripts in the country of Kapilavastu; Mengxiang, together with Zhu Dali, translated them into Chinese. Master Dao'an said: 'What Mengxiang produced flows smoothly and elegantly, fully capable of conveying the profound purport.'
