13.72

芬又善神呪，所治必驗。後病篤，服丸，人勸之以酒。芬曰：「積時持戒，寧以將死虧節。」乃語弟子云：「吾其去矣。」以齊永明三年卒于興福寺，年七十九。臨終有訓誡遺文云云。

Huifen was also skilled in divine dhāraṇīs, and all his cures were efficacious. Later, when critically ill, he took medicinal pills, and people advised him to wash them down with wine. Huifen said: 'Having upheld the precepts for so long, shall I impair my integrity just because I am about to die?' He then said to his disciples: 'I am departing.' In the third year of the Yongming era of the Qi (485), he died at the Xingfu Temple at the age of seventy-nine. When near death, he left behind a written exhortation, and so forth.
