Dharmamitra, translated here as Faxiu ("Ornament of the Dharma"), was a native of Jibin. When he was seven years old, his mind was clear and upright; whenever he witnessed Buddhist ceremonies, he would naturally leap with joy. His parents loved him and regarded him as extraordinary, and so permitted him to leave the household. Jibin produced many holy and realized persons; he frequently met illuminated teachers, broadly penetrated the various scriptures, and was particularly deep in dhyāna practices, the approaches he attained being exceedingly subtle and profound. As a person he was deep and possessed wisdom and understanding, his deportment detailed and correct. He was born with connected eyebrows, so the world styled him "the Connected-Eyebrow Dhyāna Master".
