3.40

以甲子歲發天竺，同行三伴，於路無常唯猛與曇纂俱還。於涼州出《泥洹》本，得二十卷。以元嘉十四年入蜀，十六年七月造《傳》，記所遊歷。元嘉末，卒于成都。

In the jiazi year, he departed from India. Three companions died along the way, and only Meng and Tanji returned together. In Liangzhou he produced a translation of the Nirvāṇa manuscript, yielding twenty fascicles. In the fourteenth year of the Yuanjia era, he entered Shu, and in the seventh month of the sixteenth year, he composed his Biography, recording the places he had traversed. At the end of the Yuanjia era, he died in Chengdu.
