At that time, on Mount Dongyang in Shan, there was also Shi Daobao, whose original surname was Wang, a native of Langye and a younger brother of the Jin Chancellor Dao [Wang Dao]. In his youth, he had faith and understanding; shunning the world and renouncing worldly glory, relatives and old friends tried to dissuade him, but none could restrain him. Bathing in fragrant water, just as he was about to have his hair shaved, he chanted: 'How could one know that the waters flowing ten thousand miles / first emerged as a trickle from their source?' Later, he became renowned for his learning and practice.
