有別記云：「河北別有竺道安，與釋道安齊名，謂習鑿齒致書於竺道安。」道安本隨師姓竺，後改為釋。世見其二姓，因謂為兩人，謬矣。

Another record states: "North of the Yellow River there was another Zhu Dao'an who shared renown with Shi Dao'an, alleging that Xi Zuochi sent a letter to this Zhu Dao'an." Dao'an had originally taken the surname Zhu following his master, and only later changed it to Shi. Seeing these two surnames, people of the world believed there were two separate persons, which is an error.
