6.80

後羅什至姑臧，肇自遠從之。什嗟賞無極。及什適長安，肇亦隨返。姚興命肇與僧叡等入逍遙園，助詳定經論，肇以去聖久遠，文義多雜，先舊所解，時有乖謬，及見什諮稟，所悟更多，因出《大品》之後，肇便著〈波若無知論〉，凡二千餘言，竟以呈什，什讀之稱善，乃謂肇曰：「吾解不謝子。辭當相挹。」

Later, when Kumārajīva reached Guzang, Sengzhao went from afar to follow him. Kumārajīva praised him without end. When Kumārajīva went to Chang'an, Sengzhao also returned with him. Yao Xing ordered Sengzhao, Sengrui, and others to enter the Xiaoyao Garden to assist in scrutinizing and determining the texts of sūtras and treatises. Sengzhao, considering that the time since the Sage was long past, that textual meanings had become corrupt and mixed, and that earlier interpretations were sometimes contradictory and erroneous, gained even greater insight when consulting and receiving instruction from Kumārajīva. Consequently, after the translation of the Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā-prajñāpāramitā-sūtra (Larger Prajñāpāramitā) was completed, Sengzhao composed the Prajñā-Aśūncatā-prakaraṇa (Treatise on Prajñā Being Without Knowing), consisting of over two thousand characters. When finished, he presented it to Kumārajīva. Kumārajīva read it, praised it, and said to Sengzhao: 'My understanding is no lesser than yours, but in literary expression I must yield to you.'
