時蜀江陽寺釋普明、長樂寺釋道誾，並戒德高明。蔬食誦經，苦節通感。誾學兼內外，尤善談吐，吳國張裕請為戒師云。

At that time in Shu, there were Shi Puming of Jiangyang Temple and Shi Daoyin of Changle Temple, both of whose precepts and virtues were lofty and bright. They maintained a vegetarian diet, recited the sūtras, and their austere practices produced spiritual responses. Daoyin's learning embraced both Buddhist and secular texts, and he was particularly eloquent; Zhang Yu of Wu invited him to be his precept master.
