時靈根寺又有法常、智興，並博通經論，數當講說。常迺尤能劇談，為時匠所憚。而性甚剛梗，不偶人俗。

At that time at Linggen Temple there were also Fachang and Zhixing, both broadly versed in the scriptures and treatises and frequently lecturing. Chang was especially skilled in lively, probing debates, and was feared by the masters of the day. Yet he was very unyielding and stern by nature, and did not mix well with common customs.
