Shi Sengyin, surnamed Zhu, was a native of Shouchun. From his youth his thoughts were deep and circumspect, and he was content with hardship in his pursuit of learning. He first travelled to Pengcheng and received the Three Treatises from Tandu. Since Du was preeminent in his day and people gathered to rely on him from all directions, Sengyin received and savoured his teachings, delving into their hidden subtleties and plumbing their depths.
