10.6

In the eighth year of the Yuankang era, he passed away sitting upright. His disciples cremated (jhāpita) him according to the customs of the Western Countries. The fire blazed for days on end, yet the corpse remained seated in the flames and would not turn to ashes, so they moved it back inside the stone cave. Later, Zhu Ding, styled Anshi, a man of the Western Regions, went to that country during the Xianhe era of the Jin and viewed it in person; the corpse was sitting erect and dignified, after more than thirty years. Ding later came to the capital and recounted this to the clergy and laity.
