Earlier, Saṃghasīha had extracted key parables from the Sūtrapiṭaka in Tianzhu and compiled them into a single work of one hundred tales to instruct beginners. Vṛddhi understood them all thoroughly and grasped their doctrinal meaning as well. In the autumn of the tenth year of the Yongming reign, he translated it into the language of the Qi in ten fascicles, titled the *Baiyu jing* (*Sūtra of One Hundred Parables*). He also produced the *Twelve Nidānas* and the *Sudatta-śreṣṭhin-sūtra*, each in one fascicle. Ever since the Daming reign, the translation of sūtras had almost ceased; when his translations circulated, the world all praised them. Vṛddhi was generous and magnanimous by nature, and people thus gathered from ten thousand li away. Merchants of the South Seas all revered and served him; he accepted all of their offerings and used them entirely for Buddhist works. Beside the Huai River in Jianye, he constructed ZhengGuan Temple and resided there, with multistoried pavilions, tiered gates, and halls in splendid order. In the winter of the second year of the Zhongxing reign, he passed away at his dwelling.
