闍那崛多。隋言德志北賢豆　賢豆。本音因陀羅婆陀那。此云主處。謂天帝所護故也。賢豆之音。彼國之訛略耳。身毒天竺。此方之訛稱也。而彼國人。總言賢豆而已。乃之以為五方也。

Jñānagupta—rendered in the Sui language as Dezhi (Virtue-Resolve)—was from North Xiandou. "Xiandou" was originally pronounced Indravardhana, which means "place of the Lord," referring to its protection by the Lord of the Devas (Indra). The pronunciation "Xiandou" is merely an erroneous abbreviation in that land. "Shendu" and "Tianzhu" are erroneous appellations used here [in China]. People of that land simply call it "Xiandou" as a collective term, and then divide it into five regions.
