Furthermore, there was the monk Fada of the same temple, who was praised for his sincere simplicity. The proceeds from the offerings he received were used to copy the Avataṃsaka Sūtra and eight sections of the Prajñāpāramitā Sūtras. He burned incense and read them on his own over a hundred times. Throughout his life he was always pure and clean, not keeping disciples. Solitary and contented, he left no grain of food uneaten. He too was an untrammeled and noble scholar. When he reached the age of seventy, he took the scriptures he had read and presented them to his fellow practitioners, holding only one copy of the *Shengtiantuoluoni jing* to spend the rest of his days. He then relinquished his public registry and went into the cliffs of Yunyang to gather his conditions and await death. After four years, he passed away on that mountain. These are all recent events witnessed in our own times. Moreover, instances of spiritual resonance from chanting and recitation are indeed numerous. There are separate accounts and biographies, so they are not detailed exhaustively here. I have briefly cited a few instances merely to indicate the general thread.
