In the fifteenth year, he was summoned back to the capital and stayed at Great Daxingshan Temple. At the beginning of the Zhide era, when the imperial entourage was at Lingwu and Fengxiang, Amoghavajra regularly sent secret memorials offering imperial greetings; Emperor Suzong also secretly dispatched envoys to seek the secret rituals. When the capital was recovered and order restored, events unfolded just as he had predicted. During the Qianyuan era, the emperor invited him to the palace to establish a bodhimanda and perform homa rites, receiving from him the seven-treasure initiation for the station of a wheel-turning king (cakravartin). Late in the Shangyuan era, when the emperor was indisposed, Amoghavajra performed apotropaic purifications with the Great Suiqiu Dhāraṇī up to seven times; on the following day he recovered, and the emperor treated him with even greater extraordinary courtesies. Amoghavajra submitted a memorial asking to enter the mountains; Li Fuguo proclaimed an imperial decree ordering him to cultivate merit at Zhiju Temple on Mount Zhongnan. On the evening of his intonation and recitation, he elicited Mahāsukhasattva extending a brow-curl and emitting light to verify his attainment, approaching the rank of siddhi. Amoghavajra said: 'Since sentient beings are not yet delivered, how can I deliver myself alone?'
