Furthermore, because there had been no rain in the capital throughout spring and summer, an imperial edict summoned Amoghavajra to pray [for rain]: "If it rains within three days, it will be the monk's Dharma-power; if torrential rain falls after three days have passed, it will not be Dharma-power." Amoghavajra received the edict and erected an altar; on the second day, a heavy downpour brought an abundant soaking. To reward his merit, the emperor bestowed a purple silk robe and a hundred bolts of patterned multicolored silk, seven sets of robes for his disciples, and hosted a feast for a thousand monks. Amoghavajra submitted a memorial requesting the construction of a Mañjuśrī Pavilion, and the edict granted his petition. The Noble Consort, the Prince of Han, and Princess Huayang jointly completed it, donating approximately thirty million cash from the imperial treasury. He also translated the Scripture of the Garuḍa King; imperial edicts and bestowed gifts succeeded one another, crisscrossing the roadways.
