14.21

釋靈㟧者，不知何許人也。勤乎切問，靡憚尋師。乾封中，於西明寺躬預南山宣師法席。然其不拘常所，或近文綱，或親大慈，皆求益也。末塗懼失宣意，隨講收采所聞，號之曰《記》，以解《刪補鈔》也。若然者推究造義章之始，唯慈與㟧也。又別撰《輕重訣》，故苑陵玄胄親覩其文，故援引之以解《量處輕重儀》焉。金革之故，其訣湮滅，無復可尋矣。

Śramaṇa Ling'e: it is not known where he was from. He was diligent in earnest questioning and never shrank from seeking out masters. During the Qianfeng era, at Ximing Temple, he personally attended the Dharma assembly of Master Xuan of Nanshan. However, he was not confined to a single place: sometimes he drew near to Wengang, sometimes he was close to Daci, always seeking benefit. Later on, fearing he might lose Xuan's meaning, he collected what he heard as the lectures proceeded and titled it Notes, using it to explain the Shanbu chao. If this is so, in investigating the origin of composing doctrinal treatises [on the Nanshan vinaya], it was only Ci and E. He also separately composed the Qingzhong jue; hence Xuanzhou of Yuanling personally saw his text and quoted it to explain the Liangchu qingzhong yi. Due to the turmoil of warfare, his Jue was lost and can no longer be found.
