Shi Huaixin resided in Guangling and showed no other extraordinary signs. In the third year of the Huichang era, a guihai year, Emperor Wuzong was led by Zhao Guizhen to reject and destroy the Buddhist community, wishing to wipe out the teachings. There was a Huainan man of letters named Liu Yinzhi who travelled lightly to Siming. On a night of his travels, he seemed in a dream to be sailing upon the sea. Looking back, he saw a pagoda crossing eastward, and saw that it was the pagoda of Xiling Temple in Huainan. The pagoda rose steeply, its design only slightly smaller than Empress Dowager Hu's Yongning Pagoda. On the third storey of the pagoda, he saw Huaixin leaning against the railing and conversing with Yinzhi, saying: "I am temporarily escorting the pagoda across the Eastern Sea, and will return in ten days." A few days later, Yinzhi returned to Yangzhou and immediately went to visit Huaixin. Huaixin said: "Do you remember when we met on the sea?" Yinzhi was clearly enlightened. A few days later, heavenly fire burned the pagoda completely—while torrential white rain poured down, a thatched cottage beside it was not damaged in the least. Viewed from this, that the people of the Eastern Sea saw the Yongning Pagoda was indeed no falsehood.
