釋實叉難陀，一云施乞叉難陀，華言學喜，葱嶺北于闐人也。智度恢曠，風格不群，善大、小乘，旁通異學。

Śramaṇa Śikṣānanda, also written as Shiqishanantuo, rendered in Chinese as Xuexi (Delight in Learning), was a native of Khotan north of the Congling (Pamir) Mountains. His wisdom was broad and expansive, his personal style exceptional; he was adept in both the Mahāyāna and Hīnayāna, and broadly conversant with non-Buddhist learning.
