20.13

系曰：難陀之狀迹為邪正邪？而自言得如幻三昧，與無厭足王同此三昧者，即諸佛之大定也。唯如幻見如幻，不可以言論分境界矣。四神通有如幻通，能轉變外事。故難陀警覺庸蜀之人，多尚鬼道神仙。非此三昧，不足以化難化之俗也。

The appraisal says: Were Nanda's behaviors and traces heterodox or orthodox? Yet he himself claimed to have attained the illusion-like samādhi. Sharing this samādhi with King Anivartaniya, it is none other than the great concentration of all buddhas. Only by viewing illusion as illusion can one avoid demarcating realms with conceptual talk. Among the four supernatural powers, there is the supernatural power of illusion, which can transform external objects. Thus Nanda alerted and awakened the people of Yong and Shu, who mostly venerated ghost ways and immortals. Without this samādhi, one could not convert these customs that are difficult to convert.
