The appraisal says: What kind of person was the monk who entered the Bamboo Grove? The general opinion says: "One who encounters immortals is also an immortal; in a visit to a sacred temple, how could ordinary defilement be permitted? On the one hand, it manifests that a sacred temple exists among human beings; on the other hand, it shows that holy monks mingle among the monastic ranks. Do not disparage the saṅgharatna, for ordinary and holy are intermingled. This biography has been newly recounted concerning several people, yet from antiquity it has already been heard in several places. Furthermore, such as during the Wuping era of the Northern Qi, when Śramaṇa Yuantong attended upon a sick monk beneath a lecture hall; when that monk's summer retreat was completed and his illness cured, he made an appointment to meet at Zhulin Temple on Mount Gu in Yezhong, where the traces of the event were roughly similar. These are cases of different monks reaching the sacred temple at different times."
