Earlier, when Jin was a youth, he copied the Lotus Sūtra; he never wore fine silks, but only added mugwort-fiber garments against the cold. His disciples Huikong, Fa'an, and Haoran were all followers of the son of the Elephant King. The stele inscription for the miraculous staff at Caotang Temple on Purple Cloud Peak was composed and written by Wu Tongwei. On the thirteenth day of the fourth month in the thirteenth year of Zhenyuan, the Commissioner of Meritorious Deeds for the Left Street and Duke of Bin State, Dou Wenchang, memorialized: "The late master of Qianfu Temple, Chujin, was my former ācārya. In the early Tianbao era, he erected the Prabhūtaratna Stupa and established a Lotus Bodhimaṇḍa for the nation. More than sixty years have passed since then. The monks have bowed and recited during the six periods of the day, the sound of the sūtras never ceasing, enduring across four reigns, yet his virtue has not yet received an imperial title." An imperial decree posthumously bestowed upon him the title Dhyāna Master Dayuan.
