或曰：「國朝度戒，何責經乎？豈不聞《羯磨》之辭，止云年滿、衣鉢具足，不言念經為增上緣耶？」

Someone asked: "When the present dynasty confers the precepts, why does it demand scripture examinations? Have you not heard that the words of the Karman merely specify that one has reached the full age and is equipped with robes and bowl, and do not say that reciting scriptures is a predominant condition?"
