Śramaṇa Preceptor Jin was surnamed Wang and was a native of Pingyao in Xihe; his birthplace was Zhukeng Village. In his youth he was tall and robust, but simple and rustic in disposition. His actions were bizarre and unlike those of ordinary people. He renounced the world at Mount Songyan. Later, his body measured one zhang in height and his waist one span in circumference; his predictions of events were often extraordinarily accurate. After his demise, he seemed as if still alive. When the local people made offerings and sacrifices to him, praying for wishes, everyone's requests were fulfilled. From Xihe to the Jihu, all treated him with profound respect.
