4.37

系曰：「楷師遺迹，何京兆、剡溪二處？孰是？令人疑惑，若兩家之俱見葪訓焉。此乃古人名顯於四方，因子孫南北徙遷，追念先宗，遂有僑置焉。如晉氏渡江，衣冠之家多立祖先之遺迹同也。若然者，剡則是楷曾遊歷之地也。」

The appraisal says: 'As for Master Kai's surviving traces, why are there two places, Jingzhao and the Shan Stream? Which is correct? It causes people to doubt, just like the teachings on Chi being seen in two families. This is because when ancients became famous throughout the four quarters, their descendants migrated north and south, and out of longing for their ancestral forebear, they set up detached residences. It is like when the Jin clan crossed the Yangtze River, and the families of the gentry mostly set up ancestral relics in the same way. If this is so, Shan was simply a place through which Kai once traveled.'
