系曰：江陵玄奘與三藏法師形影相接，相去幾何。然其名同實異，亦猶藺相如得強秦之所畏，馬相如令楊雄之追慕。然則各有所長短，亦可見也。

The appraisal states: Xuanzang of Jiangling and Tripiṭaka Master Xuanzang were like form and shadow together; how little separated them! Yet they were identical in name but different in reality, just as Lin Xiangru won the awe of the powerful Qin, while Ma [Sima] Xiangru inspired Yang Xiong's yearning emulation. Thus their respective strengths and shortcomings can also be observed.
