The appraisal says: 'Why did Master Xuan say he was Yuan Ang, and also the later incarnation of Zhixuan—two persons?' The response says: 'A human lifespan is a hundred years; from Han to Tang, who knows how many times Xuan passed through rising and sinking in the mountains of skeletons and oceans of tears? This can certainly be known. However, Master Xuan's manifold talents and practice of the Dao have rarely been heard of in recent antiquity, and his Dharma successors were so flourishing that no one else can compare.'
