The śramaṇa Buddhatrāta, translated into Chinese as Juejiu, was a native of Kashmir in North India. Carrying palm-leaf bundles, he vowed to convert China; residing at Baima Temple in Luoyang, he translated the *Great Vaipulya Sutra of Complete Enlightenment of the Definitive Meaning* (*Mahāvaipulyapūrṇabuddhasūtraprasanārthasūtra*). This scripture was translated in recent times, but the exact year is not known; however, keeping the exaltation of the Way in mind, one's concern is to discern falsehood and delusion: if the true meaning is unerring, what need is there to fully know the year and month? The end of Juejiu's life cannot be determined. During the Dahe era, Master Mi of Guifeng composed a commentary and exposition; the scripture original was in one fascicle, later divided into two fascicles to make a set, and he subsequently composed subcommentaries (*chao*) expounding its profound depths. Today, lectures on it flourish in the Eastern Capital, Taiyuan, and the three regions of Shu.
