The appraisal says: In the Northern Song, the 'Three Buddhas' together proclaimed Master Yan's Dao, but only Foguo attained his marrow. And those who entered Foguo's room, sat upon the seat of fearlessness, and made the lion's roar were no fewer than ten-odd persons. Yet among the subsequent continuous line of Dharma heirs, extending down to our Ming dynasty's Jiajing and Longqing eras, those whose scent still touches men's noses are solely the descendants of Miaoxi and the Dozing Tiger. Others, after three or four transmissions, fell utterly silent. Truly, these two elders may be called deep sources with long flows. Was it not fitting that they were called the 'Two Gates of Sweet Dew' in their day?
