Shi Zuni, whose courtesy name was Rizhang, had the alternative style name Yongzhuo. He was a son of the Zhang family of Changshu in Suzhou. After shaving his hair, he traveled east to Siming. At that time, Venerable Wo'an Wu resided at Yanqing Monastery, and Venerable Shishi Ying lived at Yuwang Monastery; both treated him as a friend who disregarded differences in age. Later, he inherited the Dharma from Dharma Master Zhuwu Jing, appeared in the world at Yongding Teaching Monastery, and subsequently transferred to Guangxiao in Kunshan and Jingxin in Jiading. He directed the teachings in the Wu region for nearly fifty years. At the beginning of the Hongwu reign, he was chosen in the selection of those of lofty conduct. An imperial edict ordered him to explain the Dharma at Tianjie Monastery. His Majesty repeatedly summoned him into the forbidden palace; his answers to the throne were fitting and agreeable, and he was additionally granted the title Dharma Master Ciren. Later, he was granted permission to return to his home district, where he ended his days.
