The above: Xiao Ziliang, Prince of Jingling and Duke Wenxuan, who served as Minister of Education under the Southern Qi, revered the Śākya school and deeply penetrated the ultimate teaching. He annotated sūtras and treatises and excerpted their phrasing and doctrines, barring heterodox paths to open the correct ford, and propagating the One Vehicle while exalting the seven assemblies. The world called him an ocean of the brush, and his contemporaries styled him a mountain of wisdom. Sometimes he communicated through dreams with the Solitary Honoured One, being given the fine posthumous title of Heavenly King; at other times he expounded and transmitted sūtras and chants, passing down eminent regulations of marvelous measure. His virtues are difficult to recount in detail, so we readily pass over them here. He excerpted the aforementioned sūtras to keep them by his side.
