The Accounts in Praise of the Lotus Sūtra was brought over from the kingdom of Goryeo among more than a hundred scrolls of sacred teachings by Yong Sujing, a man of Song, pursuant to my encouragement. Based on a single exemplar, and fearing it might be lost or scattered, I urged Dharma Master Junyuan to first request the copying of one copy. In the course of this, while Sujing and others were returning to the court, at Iki Island they encountered an outbreak of turmoil caused by pirates; the first five rolls of this record fell into the sea and suffered slight water damage. Even so, while the pirates were either killed by the Song men or drowned upon reaching the island, the lost articles could still be recovered. The Song men said this was solely due to the mighty power of the sacred teachings. (And so forth.) Recorded at the Dazaifu on the fifth day of the seventh month in the first year of the Hōan era by the Great Dharma Master Jukuju.
