9.11

有辛老者。失其名。年八十餘。住鄭州市西南角。常受持法華。專心清潔。自三十年來。每夜讀經。夜明如晝。不假燈燭。若捨經卷。還暗如常。不復見物。

There was an Old Man Xin, whose personal name is lost. He was over eighty years of age and lived in the southwest corner of the market of Zhengzhou. He constantly received and upheld the Lotus Sūtra with dedicated purity of heart. For the past thirty years, whenever he read the sūtra at night, the night would be as bright as day, requiring no lamps or candles. If he put down the sūtra scroll, it would turn dark again as usual, and he could no longer see anything.
