Shi Tanbao: it is not known who he was. He abstained from grain to refine his form, and his precept conduct was spotless. He constantly lectured on the Guanshiyin Sūtra to guide monastics and laity. His vocal cadence was extraordinarily elevated, remarkably distinguished from ordinary mortals. When he climbed high and recited the sūtra, the sound could be heard within thirty li.
