上來已依西域傳記。此土賢聖見聞撰集。梗概而記。其中或有相傳無文。或見親聞自新錄之。雖恐本記虛實。意在勸後信矣。

The above has been compiled in outline, based on records from the Western Regions and on what was seen and heard by the worthy and holy of this land. Among them, some are oral traditions without written texts, and some were newly recorded by myself from direct observation and personal hearing. Though there is concern about the authenticity of the original records, the intention is to encourage faith in later generations.
