釋法光。秦州隴西人。少而有信。至二十九方出家。苦行頭陀。不服綿纊絕五穀。唯餌松葉。後誓志燒身。欲供養法。廼服松膏及飲油。經于半年。至齊永明五年十月二十日。於隴西記城寺內。集薪焚身。以滿先志。火來至目。誦法華經聲猶記。至鼻廼昧奄然。春秋四十有一（已上三緣梁高僧傳十二）。

Śramaṇa Faguang was a native of Longxi in Qinzhou. He had faith from his youth and only left household life at the age of twenty-nine. Practicing the ascetic dhūtas, he did not wear silk or cotton, eliminated the five grains, and fed solely on pine needles. Later, he vowed to burn his body to make an offering to the Dharma. He then consumed pine resin and drank oil for half a year. On the twentieth day of the tenth month in the fifth year of the Yongming era of the Qi dynasty, inside Jicheng Monastery in Longxi, he gathered firewood and burned his body to fulfill his former vow. When the fire reached his eyes, the sound of his recitation of the Lotus Sūtra could still be noted; when it reached his nose, it faded, and he expired. His springs and autumns were forty-one.
