The monk Dao'ang was lecturing on the Lotus Sūtra in Xiangzhou. He saw an assembly of musicians arrive from the sky, announcing: "This is Tuṣita Heaven, descending to welcome you." Ang said: "The heavenly realms are the root of birth and death; I have never desired them. My aspiration is only for the Western Direction." As soon as he spoke, he saw music and dancers rotating and arriving from the Western Direction to welcome him. "My faith has arrived; I must not linger." An extraordinary fragrance arose, the incense burner fell from his hand, and he peacefully passed away upright on the high seat.
