The man of the Way Huihe: During the Yijia rebellion in the Taishi era of the Song, before he renounced household life, he was an insurgent of the South. Following Liu Hu down to the capital, he served as a spy and arrived at Xinlin. He was captured, and they immediately intended to execute him. Earlier, he had encountered imperial troops at Quezhu and had already experienced terrifying peril. From that time on, he constantly recited the Avalokiteśvara Sūtra. When he was about to be executed, his mindful devotion became all the more intense. When they thereupon struck to behead him, the blade struck three times and broke three times. Thereupon the military commander regarded this as an extraordinary event and immediately released him. Having obtained deliverance, Huihe thereupon renounced household life.
