6.16

青州白苟寺道人釋慧勝。宋元嘉二十六年。忽病聾盲。頓失耳眼。自念。此非差疾。又無醫藥。唯當誓心歸觀世音。誦此經一千遍。誦數載滿耳目不覺。豁然自差。

The man of the Way Śramaṇa Huisheng of Baigou Temple in Qingzhou, in the twenty-sixth year of the Yuanjia era of the Song, suddenly fell ill with deafness and blindness, abruptly losing his hearing and sight. He reflected to himself: "This is not a curable illness, nor is there medicine for it. I must only vow with all my heart to take refuge in Avalokiteśvara and recite this sūtra one thousand times." After reciting for several years and completing the number, his ears and eyes suddenly and unconsciously recovered of themselves.
