Shi Yiche lived at Xianquan Monastery on Mount Gujie in Puzhou. He made a vow to copy sūtras with his own blood and bury them on the south side of Mount Gujie, awaiting the appearance of a future Buddha in the world, where birds and beasts would not tread upon the ground. Furthermore, he considered that material sūtra scrolls would be dampened and decayed by wind and rain, so he faced empty space and vowed to write the sūtras there: in this space, frost and rain would not fall, and birds and beasts would not fly. If people pray and contemplate with pure faith, within more than ten fathoms of that space, they can see the text of the Lotus Sūtra, clearly appearing like interlocking chain links. This was witnessed personally in that place.
