Dhyāna Master Huiming of the Northern Zhou dynasty was a native of Taiyuan. He was a Dharma friend of Dhyāna Master Si of Nanyue, and they practiced the vaipulya repentance together. Looking at each other beneath the pines, they wept and said, "At these two places, we may end our days." Within ten days, illness pressed upon him; sitting in the full lotus posture and facing west, he called out, "The Buddha has come!" He joined his palms and passed away. Both were eighty-three years old. People of the time dreamed of seeing devas with banners and pennants, calling out, "Sadhu!" as they came to welcome the two masters away.
