唐朝元子平大曆九年。於潤州觀音寺發心。念阿彌陀佛一萬遍。經三月。日忽染患。夜聞空中異香音樂。病人歡喜動地。空中有人告曰。麁樂已過。細樂續來。經日念佛而終。的生淨土。數日異香。

Yuan Ziping of the Tang dynasty, in the ninth year of Dali, produced the mind [for bodhi] at Guanyin Monastery in Runzhou and recited 'Amitābha Buddha' ten thousand times. After three months, one day he suddenly fell ill. At night he heard miraculous fragrance and music in the sky, and the sick man rejoiced, shaking the earth. Someone in the sky called out, saying, 'The coarse music has already passed; the subtle music continues to arrive.' Passing the day in buddhamanasikāra, he passed away. He was certainly reborn in the Pure Land. For several days there was a miraculous fragrance.
