姚婆上都人。貞觀年中。蒙范婆勸。取念阿彌陀佛。臨終見佛。菩薩來迎。為曰未與。范婆別請佛暫駐相待。佛處虛空俟。范婆來至。手執香爐。奄然而逝。

Old Woman Yao was a native of the Upper Capital. During the Zhenguan era, through the encouragement of Old Woman Fan, she took up the practice of being mindful of Amitābha Buddha. On the verge of death she saw the Buddha and bodhisattvas come in welcoming descent, and she said that she had not yet said farewell to Old Woman Fan, entreating the Buddha to pause and wait a while. The Buddha stayed in empty space and waited. When Old Woman Fan arrived, [Yao], holding an incense burner in her hand, quietly passed away.
